What is The Pour Guide 2026?
The Pour Guide is our full catalogue in one document. It brings together red, white and rosé wines, Champagne and sparkling wine, whisky, cognac and brandy, vodka, gin, tequila, rum and liqueurs. Each entry shows the bottle size, style, country of origin and price tier.
We made it for two kinds of reader: people choosing a bottle for a dinner, gift or celebration, and businesses buying for events, offices, restaurants and hotels.
What's inside the catalogue?
Wines
- Red wine: from everyday South African favourites like Four Cousins and Nederburg to Penfolds, Amarone della Valpolicella and Louis Jadot Burgundy.
- White wine: Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough and the Cape, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, up to Chablis, Sancerre and Meursault.
- Rosé: dry, sweet and sparkling rosés from South Africa, France, Italy and Spain.
- Champagne, Prosecco and other sparkling wine: Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, G.H. Mumm, Bollinger and Dom Pérignon, plus Prosecco and Cap Classique.
Spirits
- Whisky: blended Scotch (Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal), single malts (Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet, The Macallan, Lagavulin), American whiskey (Jack Daniel's, Woodford Reserve), Irish whiskey (Jameson, Redbreast) and Japanese whisky (Hibiki).
- Cognac and brandy: Hennessy, Martell, Rémy Martin, Courvoisier and KWV.
- Vodka, gin, tequila and rum: from Grey Goose and Hendrick's to Don Julio, Clase Azul and Havana Club, plus Uganda Waragi.
- Liqueurs: Baileys, Amarula, Jägermeister, Cointreau, Disaronno and Aperol.
How do the price tiers work?
Every bottle in The Pour Guide carries one of five tiers:
- Entry: easy, crowd-pleasing everyday pours.
- Standard: trusted names for the dinner table.
- Premium: the step-up bottle for hosting and gifting.
- Reserve: estate wines, aged malts and cognacs for moments that matter.
- Prestige: the icons, such as Champagne, Grand Burgundy and rare single malts.
Start with your occasion, pick a tier that fits your budget, then choose a style within it.
Which bottle should I buy for the occasion?
- A gift under UGX 200,000: Singleton 12YR Single Malt (UGX 180,000), Mucho Mas Black Edition (UGX 65,000) or Zonin Prosecco Cuvée 1821 (UGX 130,000).
- A dinner at home: a Standard or Premium red or white from the country of the food you're serving. Italian reds with pasta, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc with fish.
- A celebration toast: Prosecco for a crowd, Champagne for the moment that matters most.
- A statement gift: a Prestige bottle such as The Macallan Rare Cask (UGX 2,500,000) or an aged single malt like the Glenffidich 21YR (UGX 1,800,00)

How much drink do I need for a party?
A simple rule: plan two drinks per guest in the first hour and one drink per guest for every hour after that.
- A 750ml bottle of wine pours about 5 glasses (150ml each).
- A 750ml bottle of sparkling wine fills about 6 flutes (125ml each).
- A 750ml bottle of spirits gives about 25 single shots (30ml each).
Example: 50 guests for 4 hours. That's 50 × (2 + 1 + 1 + 1) = 250 drinks. If half are wine, 30% spirits and 20% sparkling, you'll need about 25 bottles of wine, 3 bottles of spirits and 9 bottles of sparkling wine, plus mixers, water and ice.
For events, our Book a Bar service plans the drinks to your guest count and budget.
How should I serve wine and spirits in Kampala's warm climate?
- Champagne and sparkling wine: 6–8°C. Chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours, or in an ice bucket with water for 20–30 minutes.
- White and rosé wine: 8–12°C.
- Red wine: 15–18°C. A room in Kampala is usually warmer than that, so put reds in the fridge for 15–20 minutes before serving.
- Whisky and cognac: neat at room temperature, with a few drops of water or one large ice cube.
- Cream liqueurs: keep in the fridge once opened.
How can I tell a bottle is authentic?
- Buy from a seller who sources from authorised brands and licensed distributors.
- Check that the seal or capsule is intact and the label is clean, straight and clearly printed.
- Look for the Uganda Revenue Authority digital tax stamp.
- Be cautious of prices far below the usual market price for premium brands.
At Wines & Whiskeys, every bottle comes from authorised brands and licensed distributors.
